Each style of billiards is played on a pool table. Every type of billiard may well be played on a number of pool tables. Most tables are rectangles and are twice as long as they are wide. The 9 foot pool table is considered the professional pool table, so a regulation pool table is a 9 footer.  More often than not, the 9 footer will be a slate pool table, so that the playing surface is of top quality.
